At Matrix, we have taken another step forward in our pursuit of perfection in high-performance injection mould manufacturing with the addition of a Rosa Ermando grinding machine. The STEEL 13.7 N model allows us to achieve micron-level flatness, improving the precision and quality of our moulds.
Thanks to this new technology, we can ensure that our products continue to meet the highest quality standards in the European market.

These days, at the Municipal Library of Ripoll, visitors can see photographs showing the transformation of the building, which was once the headquarters of Matrix, the Ripoll-based company dedicated to manufacturing injection moulds and dies. Until 2003, this building, located on Carrer de les Vinyes, was the first headquarters of Matrix before it moved to Barricona. The library was inaugurated in 2009, converting the former factory into the cultural space we know today.
The exhibition allows visitors to identify the current spaces of the library and discover what used to be in each corner. Through historical images, you can see how the reading room, the children's area, or the event hall were once industrial areas. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to connect with Ripoll's industrial past and see how an iconic space has evolved over the years.
In 2024, Matrix celebrates its 50th anniversary, and we will mark the occasion by participating for the fifth time in the Fakuma trade show. Fakuma is one of the leading global events for plastics processing, bringing together over 1,600 exhibitors from around the world and attracting more than 39,000 professional visitors. The fair, held from 15-19 October in Friedrichshafen, Germany, is the perfect opportunity to discover the latest innovations in the sector.
Matrix will be exhibiting in Hall 1, alongside leading companies in the industry, showcasing our high-precision injection moulding solutions.

See you at Fakuma 2024!
This summer at Matrix is proving exceptionally enriching, with the presence of up to six apprentices carrying out their internships within our company. Since our inception in 1974, education and the job market have been closely linked through our foundational values.
The students with us this year come from four different centres, enriching our work environment with their diverse educational backgrounds and viewpoints. This variety not only brings vital freshness to our company but is also crucial for integrating new talent into the industrial world.
Among our current apprentices, we have three dual students from l'Escola de Treball del Ripollès-Fundació Eduard Soler, with which Matrix has a historic relationship. This year, Mercè Poquet continues her training with us, along with the newly joined Arnau Roura and Lluís Morales. From the Institut Abat Oliba in Ripoll, Arnau Raigon has joined us after completing a CFGM in Electromechanical Maintenance and is considering advancing to a higher degree.
Furthermore, thanks to our collaboration agreement with the French sectoral institution Polyvia, we have had the pleasure of hosting Mathis Landrien this summer, a student from IMT Nord Europe-University of Lille in Normandy, who is finalising his Engineering degree in Plastics and Composite Materials.
Jordi Birosta, the latest to join our apprentice series at Matrix, is a promising talent from UCC Uvic, where he is completing his training as an electromechanical engineer. This summer, Jordi has transitioned from academic life to practical experience, fully integrating into our technical office.
We wish all our students a fruitful stay at Matrix. May they leverage the experience of our veterans and dare to contribute their freshness and knowledge, thus enriching both their personal development and our company.
On Saturday 15th, the company from Ripoll celebrated half a century of life by bringing together three different generations. Among the guests, the oldest former employee is 90 years old and the youngest current apprentice is 18.
Matrix, which over the years has become a European benchmark in the manufacture of injection moulds and dies, was founded in 1974 in Carrer Vinyes in Ripoll by Eduard Soler and Josep Palau from Ripoll. Today, Matrix is an independent company.
The families had the opportunity to visit the factory and discover the most advanced technology of plastic injection moulds, a part of the industry that is often unknown but of great added value.
The event was an occasion to celebrate the past, present and future of the company, and concluded with an emotional audiovisual presentation, musical performances and entertainment for children and adults.
Matrix, with its Tool and Die Division, will be present at BIEMH 2024, the leading trade fair in the machine tool and advanced manufacturing industry. We invite you to our stand C39 in Hall 5, where you can learn about our solutions and talk to our experts. Don't miss this opportunity to discover how we can help you optimize your production processes and improve the quality of your products.

With more than 35 years of experience in the sector, David Cano takes over as head of the technical office for the design of injection moulds at Matrix Injection Moulds. He began his career as a fitter at Tràmec, a mould workshop that is now defunct, evolving to mould designer at the age of 21. In 2017, he formally joined our team, having previously collaborated as a freelance. We would like to highlight his extensive technical knowledge and first-class expertise. We wish him success in this new phase, confident that he will contribute significantly to the continued growth and excellence of Matrix Injection Moulds. Congratulations, David!

We begin a new year, in 2024, reaching an outstanding milestone that fills the people who form part of the Matrix community with pride. We are celebrating fifty years of a consolidated project that enjoys prestige based on a philosophy based on quality. Throughout the year, we will remember and celebrate this anniversary, recognising the people who have gone before us and looking forward with enthusiasm to the future of the company.
In 1974, in the town centre of Ripoll, Matrix SA was born. The new company was the initiative of the Ripoll industrialists Eduard Soler and Josep Palau, who had been working since 1971 on the creation of a tooling workshop to supply the company S&P with metal stamping dies and plastic and aluminium injection moulds. Furthermore, in the so-called cellular growth of the S&P group, Matrix SA acquired the autonomy to market its services outside the group. In this way, the sources of income are diversified and knowledge from other industrial sectors is increased. Matrix is established in Carrer Vinyes de Ripoll, one of the streets that form the backbone of the old quarter of the town, occupying a 3,000 m² building.
In the coming months, we will be reviewing and recalling the most important events of this half-century of life.
